The character of the Labrador

The Labrador is a very strong, active dog, but he's also very obedient and affectionate. He lives in harmony with every iving being, animal or human, and loves company because of his sociable and gay nature. He is cheerful with everyone, masters and strangers; he is not aggressive at all and cannot be used as watchdog nor guard dog. The Lab hates loneliness and idleness, while he loves wolking, swimming, retrievering anythink and doing everything the master does. He likes pleasing his master, learning from him and obeying and he's a very easy dog to train. Because of his lively and exuberant character, it is very important to teach him obedience when he's young, so he must be taught to contain his exuberance in the early age and to express it in a more appropriate way, such as running and swimming. A well-trained dog can be taken everywhere, such as restaurants, parks, shops, etc, without disturbing anyone. Patience is the keyof success for a well-trained puppy, because, although they learn very quickly, it takes time to teach him"NO" and above all to be loyall. Therefore, when you decide to buy a puppy, you must most of all take into account the time you have to spend with him at the beginning, so that he can get used to new rules and a new home. As far as his habitat i concerned, the Lab can easily sleep outside as a long as his bed is far from humidity and draughts and he has enougt room to move and make a mess. He obviously prefers to live inside the house, near his master, where he learns to respect the rules, to adjust to different situations and behave accordingly. It's also important to stress that the Labrador is a suitable dog for children because, whatever they do to him, he would not react againist them. On the contrary, one must watch out to so-called Pet-Therapy with people suffering from a physical or psychological handicap, elderly people, in hospital and in prisons.
